BMW ABS II module (non-integral ABS, 1994–2000)

Price: 400.00 € + VAT
The BMW ABS II non-integral ABS module was used in several BMW motorcycle models from approximately 1994 to 2000. This is one of the early ABS systems used on BMW motorcycles, and its performance can become unstable over time due to wear and tear or problems with electronic or hydraulic components.

Typical symptoms of a malfunction include a flashing ABS warning light, an ABS error after startup, the system failing to activate, diagnostic errors, as well as erratic or completely lost ABS function.

It is not recommended to ignore such defects, as the ABS system is essential for motorcycle safety, especially during sudden braking or in conditions of poor traction.

Repairs are possible; they are performed at a specialized service center and come with an official warranty.
🛡 The repair includes a 1-year warranty.

Description

The BMW ABS II non-integral ABS module is one of the early ABS systems used on BMW motorcycles, which was installed on several models from approximately 1994 to 2000. This system helps maintain the motorcycle’s stability during braking and reduces the risk of wheel lockup.

Over the years, these ABS modules can develop various faults related to the electronics, hydraulic components, sensors, internal valves, or general system wear and tear. Sometimes the problem occurs immediately after starting the motorcycle; other times, it appears only after a certain amount of riding time or after the system is activated repeatedly.

Most common symptoms:

- The ABS warning light flashes on the dashboard;
- An ABS error appears after starting the motorcycle;
- The ABS system does not activate or fails the self-test;
- The ABS function operates erratically or fails completely;
- Diagnostic errors related to pressure, valves, sensors, or the ABS control unit appear;
- The ABS error returns even after the error codes are cleared;
- The system may operate only intermittently;
- Braking becomes less reliable in low-traction conditions.

If you experience these symptoms, it is not recommended to continue riding while ignoring the ABS error. Although the motorcycle can still brake without the ABS function, a system malfunction can reduce safety during emergency braking situations, on wet surfaces, or on gravel.

What the repair includes:

- Initial inspection and diagnostics of the ABS module;
- Inspection of electronic components;
- Inspection of hydraulic components;
- Identification of typical defects;
- Repair or replacement of damaged or worn components;
- Post-repair inspection of the unit;
- Preparation for return to the customer;
- Official warranty for the repair.

Installing a used ABS unit is not always a safe solution, as even a used unit may have age-related defects or an unknown history. Repairing the original unit allows you to preserve the motorcycle’s original system and restore its functionality.

How the process works:

1. You fill out a repair request form with information about your motorcycle and the ABS issue.
2. We review the submitted information and, if necessary, contact you for clarification.
3. The ABS module is removed from the motorcycle.
4. You send the ABS module to us, or we’ll help arrange for it to be picked up from your address.
5. The module is sent for specialized repair and testing.
6. After repair, the ABS module is shipped back to you.
7. You reinstall the module in the motorcycle and perform a system check.

If you’re not sure whether your motorcycle has this specific ABS module, fill out the application form and include the motorcycle model, year of manufacture, symptoms, and, if possible, a photo of the ABS module. We will help you identify the correct ABS type.

Repairs are covered by a warranty. The warranty terms apply to the repaired ABS module but do not cover the costs of removal, installation, transportation, or other external work, unless specifically agreed upon separately.
